The Extreme Cred card is a re-loadable, pre pay top up card. What this means is that it's just like a normal debit card but instead of the bank lending you money to go and spend, you have to top it up with cash to make it work. Just think pre paid mobile phones, you have to top the card up with credit before you use it. The great thing about this is that you can't get in to debt like you would with a normal debit card, AND you get all the benefits of a normal debit card, such as chip & PIN, get money out at cash machines, pay for anything wherever you see the Maestro® sign and you can even use it to buy stuff online or over the phone.

As long as you are over 13 you can apply for an Extreme Cred card. It doesn't matter where you live, how much money you have in the bank, or even if you are already in debt, anyone can apply for an Extreme Cred card

Once you've bought one, you can top it up in loads of places. Online with a credit or debit card, with cash at any Post Office or at any store which shows the Paypoint sign, you can even top it up over the phone or with a regular direct debit from a bank account.

Extreme Cred cards are more secure than normal debit cards as there is no access to your bank account and so the most you could lose if it was stolen or lost is what's on the card at that point in time. It's also so much safer than cash. If you were to lose it, just give us a ring, tell us what's happened, and we'll send a replacement card to you reloaded with the cash that you lost.
